What is My Emissions Exchange?

My Emissions Exchange or MyEex (pronounced "my-eeks") is a personal carbon exchange that lets you earn money for reducing your carbon footprint. MyEmissionsExchange tackles the increasingly important issue of global warming in a new way: by paying individuals for reducing their carbon emissions. MyEex allows participating members to earn money by brokering their personal carbon credits on the voluntary carbon market and returning the proceeds.

 
Our Philosophy

We think very little is accomplished by preachy, judgmental, finger wagging attitudes. In fact, we believe, that judgmental finger wagging only gets people to wag their fingers back; most of the time using their middle fingers! Perhaps worst of all, judgmental finger wagging is just plain boring! We aim to use blogs, videos, news and MONEY to get people to focus on global climate change amidst financial meltdowns, wars and other distractions.

We truly believe that the only way to avoid being a flash in the pan is to align your individual economic self-interest with the interests of our planet. In order to actually effect change, we at MyEex feel it is necessary to make individuals responsible for the external cost of pollution. How do we do this? With money.


How Does It Work?

Using MyEex is as easy as Measure, Reduce, Earn. MyEex.com helps members MEASURE their carbon footprint related to Home energy use. When you create your Profile on MyEex, you will be asked to enter your electric and heat usage for the last year.  MyEex then offers a variety of tips to REDUCE home energy use. As you begin reducing carbon emissions, all you have to do is enter your utility usage once a month.  MyEex does all the calculations for you and tells you how much you are saving on energy and earning on credits! MyEex.com will then certify these reductions and award members carbon credits similar to those currently granted to companies, states, and countries. MyEex will then return the EARNINGS to individuals via Pay Pal. 


WHAT DO YOU NEED TO DO?

There are only a few simple steps before you can start REDUCING and EARNING. We'll take care of the rest!

  1. Sign Up with MyEmissionsExchange.com
  2. Create your Profile
  3. MEASURE by entering your home energy usage for the past year, and subsequently each month
  4. REDUCE your energy usage with the help of the MyEex Community Tips, Blogs, etc.
  5. Collect what you EARN from PayPal

We’ve spent an enormous amount of brain power getting My Emissions Exchange up and running. We expect it to evolve rapidly and improve as you, our fellow Members, create a better My Emissions Exchange. In the future, we will expand to include reducing carbon emissions from your cars, your personal travel and even the stuff you buy! Official Rules for My Emissions Exchange Pays Your Electric Bill Sweepstakes

1. No purchase necessary - There is no purchase necessary to enter and the sweepstakes are open to anyone 18 years or older at the time of the start of the sweepstakes and by entering the sweepstake the participant agrees to be bound by these rules. Sweepstakes begins September 28, 2009 and the first drawing occurs on October 5, 2009. Drawings will continue every week for 8 weeks with the final drawing on November 23, 2009.

2. Regulations - the sweepstakes are subject to all federal, state and local regulations and are void in any jurisdictions where prohibited by law.

3. To Enter - To be eligible, complete the registration form at www.myemissionsexchange.com and enter your baseline energy usage data as described and click Commit. Once you are eligible, you will be entered in every weekly drawing thereafter. Existing Members of My Emissions Exchange will also be entered in the drawings, if they update their Monthly Usage data at My Profile. Limit one entry per person and all reproduced, multiple entries will be disqualified. Employees of My Emissions Exchange and their families are not eligible.

4. Alternative Method of Entry - Participants will also be eligible ifthey mail a postcard to:

    b.    Include on the postcard: name, address, phone number and e-mailaddress to be eligible

    c.    Limit one entry per person

5. Drawing - Sweepstakes begins on September 28, 2009 and the first drawing is October 5, 2009. Drawings will continue every week for the next 8 weeks with the last drawing on November 23, 2009. The winner will be selected randomly from among the eligible participants. My Emissions Exchange will reimburse the winner in the amount of their most recent 31 day electric bill for their home or residence. Reimbursement not to exceed US$500. Winner will be required to provide a copy of their electric bill as issued by the electric utility and the bill will list their name and physical address. The odds of winning are dependent on the number of participants who register. Eligible participants can only win the sweepstakes one time.

6. Publicity and Use of Personal Information - acceptance of a prize constitutes your consent to the publication of your name, the city you reside in, your prize and a photograph at our website, and to be included in a list of winners.

7. Conduct of Contest - Participants agree to abide by these official rules and the decisions of the Sponsor which are final and binding on all matters pertaining to the sweepstakes. Sponsor assumes no responsibility for errors, omissions, delays or deletions of any entries. Sponsor assumes no responsibility for malfunctions of networks, servers, phone lines, personal computers, e-mail or technical problems on the Internet.

8. Release of Sponsor - Each participant agrees to waive any and all claims of liability of any kind or nature against the Sponsor, its employees and agents. Liability for any applicable taxes will be the sole responsibility of the winner.
